Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Brian Lawrence. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Brian, so happy you were able to devote some time to sharing your thoughts and wisdom with our community. So, we’ve always admired how you have seemingly never let nay-sayers or haters keep you down. Can you talk to us about how to persist despite the negative energy that so often is thrown at folks trying to do something special with their lives?
I persist through haters and those that chose to put me down with a smile. I find it exciting when people hate for no reason. I find that people tend to get frustrated and angry when I am doing what they are not doing. Not able to do. I use haters and nay-sayers as motivation. Fuel. I do my best to focus on the positive. Focus on what is in my control. My effort. My activity. I have learned that it is difficult to be angry and frustrated when you smile. I will let people say and do what they do as I go about my business with a smile on my face. If you want hate then I will give you something to hate.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
For me, the three qualities that I had to learn that were the most impactful were patience, communication, and persistence. Patience was the most difficult. Once I found my passion and what I wanted to do I wanted everything to happen right now!! Unfortunately, that is not the way things happen and it was not realistic. I had to slow things down and take the necessary steps to do my business, my fitness, and my nutrition the correct way. Building from the bottom up and creating a path that others will follow is a difficult task but one that I find well worth the effort. The second was communication. I have always known how to communicate and speak clearly with good intentions. What I had to learn was how to take technical terminology and put it into terms that were not only easy to comprehend but that would not be misunderstood. it is easy to give directions that can be understood but giving directions that will not be misunderstood brought me to a new level and communication. Lastly, there was persistence. Things will not always go the way that you want them to and life has a way of smacking you in the face when you least expect it. For me, it seemed like I was being tested to see just how much I was willing to do to fight for my passion and what I believe in and want to do with his passion.

If I could advise others who are early in their journey I would say be consistent with your persistence. take everything that happens in the journey as a learning experience to improve. Improve your view, your attitude, and your communication. Along the journey, there will be plenty of pitfalls and obstacles but staying strong and true to what you believe in will be one of the most important factors in your journey.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing that my parents did for me was to teach me the value of hard work. At an early, I remember my parent getting up and going to work no matter what. Then they would come home after a full day at the office and work even harder. My parents showed me firsthand what hard work will do. Putting in the effort that is needed will not only lead to success but will also leave a mark on people who come across your path in life. They taught me that there is no substitution for hard work. I can be talented, gifted, intelligent, or whatever else but if I didn’t work hard then it would all be a waste. They taught me that as long as I work as hard as I possibly can then at the end of the day I can rest easy knowing that I did all that could. No matter how things work out I did everything within my power for success.
